It doesn't surprise me that people are having CPU utilization problems with it. However, the cpu usage on my server went sky high - my hosting service told me there was a problem. After playing around and shutting down a few plugins, I shut down wp-spamfree, and cpu usage went back to normal. What you've said about it being a big lump of code may explain why it caused my server a problem. Now I'm back with Bad Behaviour - and hoping it does not slow my site down too much.
